Device Equipment Listening Spying Surveillance
Video Voyeur (Full Frame) Susan Wilson (Angie Harmon, TV's "Law & Order"), her husband Gary (Dale Midkiff, "Pet Sematary," "Air Bud: World Pup") and their two children move into their dream house in a quiet small town. They are delighted with their new life, except for their neighbor, respected church deacon Steve Glover (Jamey Sheridan, "Life As A House," "The Ice Storm"), a pest who offers unwanted handyman help around their house and seems to follow Susan wherever she goes. One day Steve makes a comment that leads Susan to believe that he might be spying on her. She and Gary hire a security consultant who searches their home but cannot find any listening devices. Still concerned, Susan tells her suspicions to girlfriends who help her slip into the Glover's home when they are gone. what the girls find is shocking. They see recording and videotaping equipment plus a pile of tapes. Susan watches some of the tapes in horror as her bedroom fills the screen with her most intimate moments with Gary. There are also tapes of her taking a shower and getting dressed. Susan then finds more hidden equipment in her own attic, including small holes that have been cut into the ceiling above her master bedroom and bathroom. Devastated by the invasion of their privacy, Susan suffers psychological trauma. Gary debates whether to involve the police since the publicity might drive Susan into further depression. He confronts Steve and convinces him to turn himself in, but Steve's spotless reputation, combined with false rumors that he spreads about Susan, causes the town to sympathize with him rather than Susan. The nightmare really begins when Susan is told that there is no law protecting people from being secretly videotaped even in their own homes. With nowhere left to turn, Susan decides she must go public, regardless of how painful and embarrassing it will be. She must raise public awareness of the seriousness of this crime and the need to change the outmoded laws governing it. Based on a True Story.
Secret Agent's Handbook by Mark Seaman, Here is the catalog from which real spies once ordered their explosives, gadgets, and equipement! Have you ever fantasized about what it would be like to be a secret agent? A super-spy? To have at your disposal the wild gadgets seen in movies like Mission Impossible and the James Bond series? Cloak-and-dagger escapades have been a mainstay on the screen and in literature, but the stuff of these movies and spy novels was based on fact. And the clandestine duties required of covert operators entailed employing every possible advantage. Secret Agent's Handbook is the original catalog used by the actual British S.O.E. agents to select weapons, gadgets, and disguises for their secret missions during World War II. The S.O.E. was the secret wartime organization set up to promote sabotage in enemy-occupied countries, with active and often highly personal encouragement from Winston Churchill. Following Winston Churchill's directive to "set Europe ablaze, " the Special Operations Executive set about organizing resistance in Europe and beyond as best they could. To aid in these harrowing activities, government scientists and inventors produced a remarkable and vast array of devices designed specifically for covert sabotage missions. This intriguing collection includes the equipment that secret agents used-such wild devices as exploding rats and Chianti bottles, shoes that leave barefoot prints, incendiary briefcases and cigarettes-as well as the deadliest of weapons. Each item is featured with a photograph or illustration and is described in detail. Also included are full instructions for use and information as to how they were utilized on real-life spy missions.
